How plug-in solar works
The whole idea in three steps
Buy a kit
A plug-in kit pairs one or two solar panels with a microinverter that converts their output to safe mains AC. You mount the panels on a balcony, wall, or garden frame.
Plug it in
The kit plugs into a normal outdoor-rated socket. The microinverter only feeds power when the grid is present, and shuts off instantly if you unplug it.
Use your own power
Everything the panels generate is used by your home first, cutting the electricity you buy from the grid. You still need to follow the notification rules - our guides cover exactly what applies.
